Nothing Official; Just Observations

12:30 pm

Power in the downtown/Nu`uanu area appears to have come back online around 5 am. However, driving around downton and Ala Moana, there are still some major intersections where the traffic signals are still not working. Some of them have police officers directing traffic, others do not. By and large, most people are treating those intersections as a four-way stop.

It doesn’t appear that EVERYONE has power back yet. Some of the people I follow on Twitter say they’re waiting, especially in Mililani.

As for weather, there was an earlier flood advisory for O`ahu, but that has been allowed to expire. There are still pockets of heavy rain that are moving through the island. Right now downtown, some light rain is falling.

Now, for something official: There are currently no watches or warnings posted around the state. The Big Island of Hawai`i is finally no longer under a flash flood watch, and the rain there has finally let up. However, conditions remain unstable over the state as the upper level low drifts westward. Think of it as wet tradewind weather on steroids. The weather should continue to be of the wet tradewind weather variety through the weekend, although I reckon Sunday might be a little drier.

As for the rest, keep it here on KITV.com, and watch the latest on KITV 4 Island Television News at 5 and 10 tonight.

Ben.
